Abstract

According to EU law, services of general interest, which include also amateur sports, are subject to a specific regulation because of the aims they pursue, which are recognised by the single Member states’ legal systems. The opinion by the European Economic and Social Committee released in April 2022 stresses the need for the EU to revise its own regulation concerning Stat aid so as to better evaluate a different set of relations between public authorities and non-profit organisations, which are often entrusted with to carry out services of general interest.
